Viewport (Viewing Window)

Viewport refers to the part of the screen or window that displays the content of an application, website, or software. It is the “viewing window” where users can see and interact with digital content.

Some contexts where viewport is used:

  1. In Web Development / Web Browsers

    • The viewport is the visible area of a webpage on a device screen (desktop, tablet, smartphone).

    • For example, CSS and the viewport meta tag are used to make websites responsive, adjusting content to fit the user’s screen size.

  2. In Graphics / CAD / Design Software

    • A viewport is the viewing area in software where you can see, manipulate, and edit objects.

  3. In Gaming / Simulation

    • The viewport is the portion of the screen that shows the player the virtual world or game
