Ts. Mohd. Faizal Daud is the former Director of the Infocomm Development Centre (iDEC) at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). He retired on February 28, 2025, after making significant contributions in the field of information technology at UPM. Throughout his career, Ts. Mohd. Faizal Daud held various key positions at iDEC. He served as the Deputy Director (ICT Services), responsible for ICT services such as the campus computer network (UPMNet), data center, ICT security, telecommunications, application development and operations, as well as ICT consultancy. With over 27 years of experience as an information technology officer, including 17 years as an IT manager, he has expertise in computer network design, server development using Cloud Virtualization Server technology, data center development and management, Wi-Fi HotSpot infrastructure design, and telephone system development based on Unified Communication technology. In addition, Ts. Mohd. Faizal Daud played an important role in the implementation of UPM’s Information Security Management System (ISMS) for five years as the Deputy Management Representative. He was also involved in various university ICT projects, including the development of the UPM computer network (UPMNet) serving 20,000 users, the PutraCloud project, Cloud Virtualization Server, campus Wi-Fi HotSpot infrastructure with 2,000 Wireless Access Points (AP), and Internet Over Power Line. He served as a consultant and reference expert for various ICT development and operations projects at UPM and was also entrusted as a consultant for several external ICT projects involving organizations such as the Malaysian Prisons Department, LHDN, RTM, TNB, Ministry of Higher Education (KPT), Ministry of Education (KPM), and PTPTN. Following his retirement, his contributions and efforts in advancing digital innovation at UPM continue to be remembered by iDEC staff and the university community. He was honored as the Icon of UPM Digital Infrastructure Modernization and celebrated during the UPM Chief Digital Officer (CDO) Mandate Ceremony and iDEC Staff Assembly 2025, held on February 26, 2025, at Dewan Putra, Centre for Co-curriculum and Student Development, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).
