GRAPHIC IMAGE

What is a graphic image?
A graphic or graphic image is a visual representation of non-textual content, such as a painting, a chart or a photograph.

What are examples of graphic images?
Examples of graphics include maps, photographs, designs and patterns, diagrams, architectural or engineering blueprints, bar charts and pie charts, typography, schematics, line art, flowcharts, and many other image forms.

What are the types of graphics?
Raster graphics: The composition is Pixels and the file formats are .psd, .bmp, .jpg, .gif, .png., .tiff
Vector graphics: The composition is Points on a Cartesian plane and the file formats are .ai, .svg., .eps, .pdf

What are graphic images called?
Vector graphics are created and edited using illustration software. Raster graphics consist of illustrations created using pixels. Raster graphics are also called bitmaps. Digital photographs are the most common type of raster graphics.

Why are graphic images important?
Images are one of the most important features of graphic design. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and it also may be said that no one knows this better than a graphic designer. 

What type of image is best?
JPEG: This is an ideal image format for all types of colorful photographs, when published online. PNG: This format is perfect for screenshots and other types of imagery where there's not a lot of color data. GIF: If you want to show off animated graphics on your site.
