In the digital context, the Malaysian Flag (Jalur Gemilang) is displayed, produced, disseminated, or promoted through:
Digital Design (Graphic Design & CAD)
Software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CorelDRAW are used to design the Jalur Gemilang in digital format. Standard color codes (hex codes) are set to ensure consistency of red, blue, white, and yellow.
Digital Printing
Digital printing technology produces flags of various sizes accurately according to specifications. CNC machines and automated fabric machines are used to manufacture fabric flags.

LED displays, digital screens, and electronic billboards showcase the Jalur Gemilang in animation. 3D videos, Augmented Reality (AR), or Virtual Reality (VR) can display the flag waving virtually.
Web Technology & Social Media
The Malaysian Flag is used in digital campaigns during National Day through Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X (Twitter). Hashtags and AR filters (such as on Instagram/FB) feature the Jalur Gemilang.
3D Design & Animation
Blender, Maya, Unity, and Unreal Engine are used to create animations of the Jalur Gemilang waving in games, films, and applications.
Mobile Applications & AR
Interactive apps where the camera, when pointed at an object, can display the Malaysian Flag in AR. In e-books or educational apps, the Jalur Gemilang can appear with interactive information.
Digital Security & Standards
ICT ensures that official digital files of the Malaysian Flag comply with the standards set by the Department of Information Malaysia, preventing misuse or unauthorized alterations.
Jalur Gemilang (Flag of Malaysia)
In 1947, a flag design competition was held by the Federal Legislative Council of Malaya. The selected design was created by Mohamed Hamzah, a young architect from Johor. The flag was first raised on 26 May 1950 at the Sultan of Selangor’s Palace. When Malaysia was established on 16 September 1963, the flag was also used with slight modifications to represent the states that joined. In 1997, the national flag was officially named “Jalur Gemilang” by the then Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.
The name “Jalur Gemilang” means stripes that are brilliant, glorious, and excellent. Every National Day (31 August), the Jalur Gemilang is flown across the nation as a symbol of patriotism.
