29 July 2025, SERDANG – The InfoComm Development Centre (iDEC), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), organised the Public Sector ICT Technical Committee (JTISA) Presentation Workshop at Al-Biruni Smart Space, UPM Mosque. Held from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., the workshop brought together representatives from various UPM Responsibility Centres (PTJs) involved in preparing ICT project applications under the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13).

The workshop was organised as part of iDEC’s efforts to ensure that the university’s ICT project applications are prepared systematically, comprehensively and in accordance with the established technical requirements. It also served as a platform for PTJs to update the status of their respective project applications and receive clarification and guidance on the preparation of presentations prior to the technical approval process.

One of the main objectives of the workshop was to provide an opportunity for each PTJ to update and present their respective ICT component project applications managed by iDEC. The presentations enabled the proposed projects to be reviewed in terms of their requirements, scope, justification, objectives and alignment with the university’s ICT priorities and development plans.

The workshop also placed emphasis on the proper preparation of documents and presentation slides in accordance with the requirements of the Public Sector ICT Technical Committee (JTISA). The guidance provided during the session helped participants gain a clearer understanding of the key elements that need to be addressed when preparing ICT project applications. This is important to ensure that the required information is complete, consistent and presented in an appropriate format for the technical evaluation process.

The presentation and discussion sessions also provided PTJ representatives with an opportunity to receive direct feedback and refine their respective project proposals. This approach is essential in ensuring that each proposed ICT project is supported by a clear justification, an appropriate scope and a strong alignment with the operational requirements and strategic aspirations of UPM.

The organisation of the workshop further reflects iDEC’s role in leading and coordinating the university’s ICT planning and governance. Effective coordination between iDEC and the respective PTJs is crucial to ensuring that proposed ICT projects are developed based on actual institutional needs while taking into consideration technical requirements, governance principles and long-term ICT development planning.

Through the workshop, participants gained a better understanding of the requirements for preparing ICT project applications while strengthening their readiness for the JTISA technical presentation and evaluation process. The knowledge-sharing and review sessions also contributed towards improving the quality and completeness of the project documentation and presentation materials.

Overall, the JTISA Presentation Workshop represents an important initiative in strengthening UPM’s preparation for the implementation of ICT projects under RMK13. The initiative is expected to support more coordinated, efficient and impactful ICT planning and implementation, in line with the university’s digital transformation agenda and its aspiration to develop a sustainable, integrated and competitive digital ecosystem.

The continued collaboration between iDEC and UPM’s PTJs will remain important in ensuring that future ICT initiatives are planned and implemented strategically, with technology serving as a key enabler in enhancing university operations, service delivery and the overall digital experience of the UPM community.
