SERDANG, 29 July 2026 – Congratulations on the successful completion and delivery of the PUTRA®Fiber UPM Project. Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has achieved another significant milestone by becoming the first university outside China to successfully implement Passive Ethernet Network (PEN) technology through a strategic collaboration with Huawei. The project was implemented by Impian Iltizam Sdn. Bhd. in collaboration with the Information Development and Communication Centre (iDEC) and UPM's residential colleges.
Implemented in three phases from October 2024 to April 2026, the project involved the installation of 7,456 wireless Access Points (APs) across 12 UPM residential colleges. The initiative was funded under the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (12MP), Fourth Rolling Plan (RP4).
The project was undertaken to strengthen UPM's network infrastructure and enhance the quality and coverage of internet connectivity within the residential colleges. This initiative is expected to provide students with faster, more reliable, and comprehensive internet access, supporting digital learning while fostering a more conducive, connected, and competitive campus environment.
May iDEC UPM continue to excel in delivering high-quality digital services and further strengthen the University's technology ecosystem to meet the evolving needs of the UPM community.
