Canva improves Design Skills

 

24 Oktober 2024, Serdang – The Asset Development and Management Office, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has organized a Canva Digital Course located at the iDEC Alpha Computer Lab, Putra Infoport. This course focuses on strengthening digital design skills among staff to improve the quality of their visual communication and publication materials. Conducted by Ts. Saiful Ramadzan Hairani from the Smart Campus and Digitization Division, iDEC, this course successfully attracted the participation of 20 staff.

 

They were exposed to Canva's various latest functions and techniques, including:

  1. Training on Building a Project Timeline
    Participants were trained to use Canva to visually produce project timelines, helping project planning and monitoring more clearly and systematically.
  2. Signature Design for Email Footers
    This session provides guidance in creating a corporate email signature that is professional and consistent with UPM's identity.
  3. Use of Frame Mockups
    Participants learn to use mockups to create promotional visuals or concept ideas that are more attractive and realistic.
  4. Poster with UPM Header & Footer
    Participants were exposed to the method of producing official posters that comply with UPM's visual identity using headers and footers for branding consistency.
  5. Preparation of Illustrated Report Templates
    Participants were taught to design report templates with graphic elements and photos to convey information clearly and attract attention.

 

Real-time collaboration functionality in Canva was also explored to allow multiple users to work together simultaneously to complete projects more quickly and effectively. Participants also take advantage of Canva's integration with Google Drive to facilitate digital sharing and storage of materials.

"This training really helped us in producing communication materials and reports in a more professional and creative way," said one of the participants.

This course is in line with UPM's commitment to drive university staff towards digitization and innovation, ensuring they remain relevant in the technological era and meet the university's needs as a global-class institution.
