12 February 2026, Serdang – iDEC conducted a benchmarking visit to Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) in Tanjung Malim, Perak. The half-day visit was led by the Deputy Director of ICT Infostructure and Innovation, Mohd Hafeez Osman, and was joined by 19 other officers involved in the development of PutraSIMS. The delegation comprised application development team members, representatives of infrastructure managers, database management representatives, as well as two representatives from the Admission Division and the Academic Governance Division of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).

Upon arrival, the UPM delegation was welcomed by the Chief Digital Officer (CDO) of UPSI, Megat Azrin Ahmad, along with several key officers responsible for managing UPSI’s student information system. The sharing session took place at the Senate Meeting Room, eLearning Building, UPSI.

The main purpose of the visit was to gain insights and exchange experiences related to the management and development of student information systems. The discussions covered several aspects including system design and functionality, infrastructure and infostructure design, data management and analytics, as well as operational, support, policy, and security matters. A significant amount of information was shared and learned during the visit, which will be utilised to further strengthen the management, governance, and implementation of the PutraSIMS development project.

The UPM delegation also had the opportunity to visit UPSI’s newly launched Main Data Centre, inaugurated in 2024, to observe the infrastructure monitoring dashboard and the technologies implemented at the facility. The visit concluded with a tour of the new UPSI campus located in Proton City.
