Flutter Application Development Course Strengthens Digital Application Development Competencies

Kuala Lumpur, 12 August 2026 – The Digital Technology Centre, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (DigitalUKM), organised the Flutter Application Development Course from 10 to 12 August 2026 at Bilik Kenanga, Level 1, Digital Technology Centre, UKM. The three-day programme brought together participants from UKM, public universities and the private sector, providing a valuable platform for knowledge sharing and skills enhancement in mobile application development.

The course was conducted by Mr Muhammad Firdaus bin Mohamad Nor Sing as the instructor, with Mr Mohd Sharhan bin Abdul Ghani serving as the facilitator. The training focused on the use of Flutter, a development framework that supports efficient and structured application development across multiple platforms. Through a practical and hands-on approach, participants were given the opportunity to strengthen their understanding of application development concepts and apply their knowledge through various exercises and activities throughout the course.

A total of 22 participants took part in the programme, representing a diverse range of organisations. The participants comprised two representatives from DigitalUKM (APPS), three from UKMShape, 15 representatives from public universities, namely Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), as well as two participants from the private sector, Tridimas.

The Information and Communication Development Centre (iDEC), UPM, was represented by five participants, namely Shafik Harafi Shukri, Noor Ashikin Mohamed Noh, Mohammed Faiz Esa, Zurayawati Sulaiman and Mohd Shafree Ahmad. Their participation reflects iDEC’s continuous commitment to strengthening technical competencies and enhancing application development capabilities in support of the university’s digital transformation agenda.

Programmes of this nature also provide an avenue for participants from different institutions to exchange experiences, best practices and knowledge related to application development technologies. The networking opportunities established through the programme may further strengthen strategic collaboration among higher education institutions and the private sector, particularly in the areas of digital technology and application development.

Through participation in the course, iDEC officers gained valuable exposure to Flutter technology and contemporary approaches to application development. The knowledge and skills acquired are expected to contribute to the development of innovative, flexible and effective digital solutions that support the university’s digitalisation efforts and enhance the delivery of ICT services at UPM.

Overall, the programme demonstrates the importance of continuous professional development and cross-institutional knowledge sharing in strengthening digital capabilities. The participation of iDEC officers is also expected to contribute towards building a more skilled and technologically ready workforce capable of responding to the evolving demands of digital transformation in higher education.
