SERDANG, 10 April 2025 – A briefing on the PUTRA SIMS 2025 Live System Operation was held at Dewan Putra, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), to provide an overview of the implementation of the new system in supporting student admission management processes. The briefing was delivered by Ts. Azizi bin Sabron, PUTRA SIMS Development Project Manager.

The development of PUTRA SIMS is being implemented in phases, with the first phase focusing on local and international undergraduate student admission channels. The initial implementation involves the Academic and Admission Division (BAKD), Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication (FBMK), School of Professional and Executive Studies (SPE), and UPM Education and Training (UPMET).

PUTRA SIMS is developed as a central platform to support various processes related to new student admissions in a more structured and integrated manner. Key functions include admission application management, application screening, student selection, offer letter generation and new student pre-registration.

For postgraduate student admissions involving the School of Graduate Studies (SPS), the system is expected to be fully implemented beginning October 2025. The phased implementation approach allows system adaptation, testing and coordination to be carried out systematically according to the requirements of each admission category.

The implementation of PUTRA SIMS 2025 represents an important step towards strengthening the digitalisation of UPM’s student admission processes. The integrated platform is expected to improve administrative efficiency, reduce reliance on manual processes and provide a more systematic service experience for applicants and relevant stakeholders.

The initiative also reflects UPM’s continued commitment to leveraging digital technology to streamline academic management processes and strengthen the university’s broader digital transformation agenda. Through the implementation of an integrated admission platform, UPM aims to enhance operational efficiency, improve service delivery and establish a more coordinated digital ecosystem for student admission management.
