SERDANG, 11 September 2025 – The EKSA Committee of the InfoComm Development Centre (iDEC), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) successfully organised a Plogging Activity in conjunction with Malaysia Day 2025 as one of the EKSA initiatives for 2025. Combining environmental cleanliness with a healthy lifestyle, the activity was conducted around InfoPort UPM and iDEC Beta, involving staff members in a collective effort to create a cleaner, more organised, comfortable and conducive workplace environment.

The one-hour plogging activity began at 8.30 a.m. with the distribution of cleaning equipment to participants. The equipment included gloves and black plastic garbage bags to facilitate the collection and disposal of waste throughout the designated areas.

Participants then worked together in groups to carry out cleaning activities around InfoPort UPM and iDEC Beta. The cleaning areas included parking spaces, pathways surrounding the buildings and the areas around the respective office buildings. The activity not only contributed to maintaining the cleanliness of the surroundings but also encouraged iDEC staff to develop greater awareness and responsibility towards the cleanliness and sustainability of their workplace environment.

The activity also served as an opportunity to strengthen teamwork and foster a sense of shared responsibility among staff members. Active participation in environmental cleaning and community-based activities demonstrates that maintaining a clean workplace is a collective responsibility that requires the commitment and cooperation of everyone within the InfoPort community.

In addition to promoting cleanliness, the concept of plogging, which combines physical activity such as walking with waste collection, also provides added benefits in terms of staff health and well-being. This approach is in line with the EKSA initiative to promote a workplace environment that is not only clean and organised but also supports a positive, healthy and harmonious work culture.

The implementation of the activity also reflects the importance of cultivating environmental awareness through simple and practical initiatives. By encouraging staff to take an active role in keeping their surroundings clean, such activities can help develop positive habits that extend beyond the workplace and contribute towards a more sustainable environment.

Overall, the Plogging Activity in conjunction with Malaysia Day 2025 successfully achieved its objectives, particularly in improving the cleanliness of the surroundings at InfoPort UPM and iDEC Beta while strengthening the spirit of cooperation and togetherness among staff members.

The activity demonstrates that EKSA practices can be effectively incorporated through simple, meaningful and community-oriented activities that have a direct impact on the workplace environment. It is hoped that similar initiatives will continue to be organised to strengthen a culture of cleanliness, organisation, environmental awareness, teamwork and shared responsibility among iDEC staff.
