iDEC Develops AI-Based Office Exercise Programme

SERDANG, December 2025 – The InfoComm Development Centre (iDEC), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), has introduced an innovative artificial intelligence (AI)-based initiative through the development of an office exercise video in conjunction with the UPM Digital Month 2025 celebration.

The initiative represents iDEC’s effort to promote a healthy lifestyle among the UPM community, particularly staff members who spend long hours working in front of computers. In line with the advancement of digital technology, an AI-based approach was adopted to produce exercise content that is simple, practical and easy to follow, while being suitable for implementation within the office environment without the need for specialised equipment.

The exercise module provides users with guidance on performing simple physical movements that can be incorporated into their daily workplace routines. This approach is expected to encourage university staff to allocate time for regular physical activity while raising awareness of the importance of maintaining physical fitness and personal well-being throughout the working day.

The development of the video also combines AI technology with interactive multimedia elements to deliver content that is engaging, clear and user-friendly. This creative application of technology demonstrates that AI can contribute not only to improving productivity and work efficiency but also to supporting the well-being of the university community.

The initiative further reflects UPM’s commitment to strengthening its digital transformation agenda and fostering the innovative and impactful use of technology in the daily lives of its campus community. It is aligned with the objectives of UPM Digital Month 2025, which encourages the exploration and adoption of digital technologies in creative, practical and meaningful ways.

Through this initiative, iDEC hopes that the application of AI can continue to be explored across various areas that benefit the UPM community. At the same time, the initiative is expected to raise awareness of the importance of balancing work productivity, physical activity and personal well-being in creating a healthier, more positive and productive workplace environment.
