August 13, 2025, Serdang – The Information and Communication Development Centre (iDEC), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), received a benchmarking visit from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) at 9:30 a.m. at iDEC Infoport. The visit served as a platform for sharing knowledge and experiences related to digital governance, particularly in the implementation of ICT services and digital transformation initiatives at UPM.

The UTM delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Wan Mohd Nasir bin Wan Kadir (Chairman, Digital Transformation Committee), Puan Murni Hariyanti Muslim (Senior Assistant Registrar, UTM Digital), and Puan Norhafizah binti Mohd Hanafiah (Senior Assistant Registrar, Registrar’s Office).

The briefing session was delivered by Ts. Syemsul Bahrin Abdul, Deputy Director (ICT Infrastructure and Services), and attended by iDEC management members and officers. The session included detailed explanations on iDEC’s organizational structure, core functions, and strategic direction. The main focus of the visit encompassed three key aspects: ICT Service Governance and Digital Transformation at UPM, iDEC UPM Functional Chart and Summary of UPM ICT Services and Digital Transformation Strategic Plan.

Through this visit, UTM gained comprehensive insights into UPM’s best practices in strengthening ICT governance efficiency, while also paving the way for potential strategic collaborations in the future. The visit also served as a catalyst for fostering bilateral relations between UTM and UPM, in line with both universities’ aspirations to enhance digitalization efforts in tandem with current technological advancements.
