Honoring the Quran

21 March 2025, SERDANG – The iDEC Welfare and Recreation Club (KRiDEC) organised the Khatam Al-Quran and Tahlil Ceremony 2025/1446H as part of the Ihya’ Ramadan Programme to encourage religious practices and strengthen the appreciation of Ramadan among the staff of the Information and Communication Development Centre (iDEC), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).

Held on 21 March 2025 (Friday) at 9.00 a.m., the ceremony was conducted virtually via Google Meet, allowing iDEC staff to participate from their respective locations. Despite being held online, the programme was conducted in a respectful and solemn atmosphere, providing an opportunity for staff to come together and embrace the spiritual significance of Ramadan.

To facilitate the Quran recitation, the appointed qaris gathered physically at the Putra@Smart Classroom, iDEC Alpha, UPM, while other participants joined the ceremony virtually. The Khatam Al-Quran recitation began with Surah Ad-Dhuha and concluded with Surah An-Nas, led by seven appointed qaris.

The ceremony continued with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and verses one to five of Surah Al-Baqarah, symbolising the importance of continuing to read, understand and practise the teachings of the Quran in daily life. This was followed by the Tahlil recitation, led by the chief qari, as a prayer and remembrance for the deceased whose names had been registered for the ceremony.

The programme served not only as a meaningful spiritual activity during Ramadan but also as an avenue to strengthen fellowship and foster a sense of togetherness among iDEC staff. The initiative reflects KRiDEC’s continuous efforts to provide meaningful welfare and community activities that contribute to the spiritual and social well-being of the iDEC community.

Such programmes are hoped to continue serving as a platform for strengthening spiritual values, fostering unity and encouraging greater appreciation of religious practices among staff, particularly during the blessed month of Ramadan.
