Explore the rapid innovation ecosystem and the drivers of digital transformation

6 November 2024, Petaling Jaya - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) through the Infocomm Development Center (iDEC) has visited the CelcomDigi Artificial Intelligence Experience Center (AiX) in Kuala Lumpur. This visit provides an opportunity for UPM staff and students to understand and explore the latest technology in artificial intelligence (AI) and 5G connectivity that are capable of changing today's digital landscape.

The AiX Center provides an immersive experience for visitors to delve into smart technology applications, robotics, Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, as well as 5G network capabilities that are increasingly important in various industries such as agriculture, manufacturing, and urban management. This tour not only opens the minds of visitors about digital transformation but also gives an insight into the potential application of this technology in helping educational institutions.

Step Forward at University

As a step forward, universities can take the initiative to introduce more training and workshops related to AI and 5G technology to students and staff. For example, short courses or additional modules in AI and IoT can be created to complement students' skills in these areas. In addition, universities can also consider developing an innovation laboratory that focuses on research and development of smart technology as a platform for students to apply theory into real practice.

With strategic collaborations with technology companies such as CelcomDigi, the university can support the development of technology in Malaysia while helping campus residents better prepare for the rapidly changing digital future.

Celcomdigi has partnered with several other universities especially in the metaverse. They have a program to train and certify participants for metaverse content development.

The visit provided exposure and information related to the use of digital experiences.

Hopefully UPM will continue to take steps to strengthen the digitalization of the university.
