UTeM : Cashless Campus

In line with current digital technology developments, UTeM has taken steps to introduce a cashless campus initiative. This effort is in line with the university's aspiration to achieve smart campus status and also supports the government's desire to reduce the dependency on cash payment transactions by 2020 in providing access, flexibility and choice to consumers and providing a convenient and secure payment experience.

Starting January 2018, various efforts have been made to ensure that the cashless campus project is implemented at UTeM. Among the efforts that have been made is to introduce Bank Islam Unidebit cards to every staff and student. This Bank Islam Unidebit Card has two primary functions namely identity card (ID card) as well as bank card. The ID card is used for the purpose of recording the access and security of door access while the bank card is used to make payments, withdrawals and so on.

In empowering and ensuring the implementation of a cashless campus continues to be successful, University Management also enforces payment and cashless receipts at all university service counters for payment of fees, fines and various other university revenues. The counters involved are Pej Counters. Treasurer, Residential College Counter, Wisdom Library Library Counter, Office Counter. Safety and more.

In addition, internet banking services and facilities are also being expanded with payment processing through the Financial Process Exchange (FPX), Mastercard Internet Gateway (MiGS), JomPAY and e-Wallet.

The concept of cashless is also encouraged for any transaction conducted in the cafeteria and university cooperatives.

It is hoped that the implementation of this cashless campus project will be a catalyst for a new campus lifestyle and offer a simpler, faster, safer cash-flow for college residents. It is also one of the ways to educate college students towards a digital lifestyle.
