SERDANG, 23 July 2026 – The InfoComm Development Centre (iDEC), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), successfully organized the Enterprise Architecture (EA) Development Workshop for the UPM Student’s Journey at the Co-Curriculum and Student Development Centre Hall.

The workshop was officiated by YBhg. Ts. Dr. Mohd Hafeez Osman, Deputy Director (Infostructure and ICT Innovation), and attended by YBhg. Ts. Esmawaty Mohamad, Enterprise Architecture Training Consultant from INTAN, iDEC's management team, and key university service owners.

The Enterprise Architecture (EA) development initiative encompasses the entire student lifecycle, beginning with student recruitment and admission, registration, learning and teaching, student development, graduation, and continuing through alumni engagement.

The workshop aimed to gather insights, feedback, and experience from UPM's key service owners to identify the current business processes (As-Is), stakeholder roles, application usage, data flows, as well as the issues and challenges encountered throughout each phase of the UPM Student Lifecycle. These findings will serve as a critical foundation for the development of the University's Enterprise Architecture, ensuring alignment with UPM's strategic aspirations and its digital transformation initiatives.

During the briefing titled "Strategic Approach Towards University Digital Transformation," Esmawaty stated, "Task alignment and service capability management must be systematically coordinated under the supervision of service owners to support future organizational improvements." She also emphasized the importance of maintaining the same project team to ensure continuity of expertise and institutional knowledge in departmental system implementation and management.

The workshop discussions focused on assessing the current state (As-Is) across the designated domains while identifying technical constraints and opportunities for process improvement. Key activities included reviewing business process mind maps, completing detailed mappings of existing processes, and presenting each group's findings.

The workshop, attended by a total of 51 participants, will provide valuable input for finalizing the Enterprise Architecture (EA) blueprint and detailed process mapping for the UPM Student’s Journey, as well as developing an improvement roadmap to guide the implementation of UPM's digital transformation agenda. This initiative is expected to enhance service delivery by making it more efficient, innovative, and sustainable.
