Serdang, 18 December 2025 – The InfoComm Development Centre (iDEC) remains committed to strengthening university governance and digital transformation through the comprehensive implementation of the Enterprise Architecture (EA) approach at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).
The EA approach is adopted as a strategic practice to support direction-setting and the alignment of organisational Business and Information Technology (IT) capabilities. Through EA, understanding, alignment, and activity planning can be carried out in a more integrated and systematic manner, in line with the university’s strategic requirements.
In this regard, iDEC organised the UPM Enterprise Architecture Development Workshop (Series 1), aimed at establishing a strong foundation and shared understanding of EA development at the university level. The workshop was held on 18 and 19 October 2025 at Exa Lab, iDEC Alpha Putra Infoport.
The key components of the workshop included:
Development of the Motivation View, focusing on mapping organisational initiatives and capabilities in alignment with the UPM Strategic Plan; and
Development of the UPM Enterprise Architecture Metamodel, encompassing key components such as Capability, Process, Application, Data, and Stakeholder.
The organisation of this workshop is expected to serve as a catalyst for establishing a more structured, comprehensive and strategic Enterprise Architecture (EA) framework for UPM. This initiative will also strengthen digital governance, enhance operational efficiency, optimise resource utilisation and ensure that the planning and implementation of digital initiatives are carried out in an integrated manner. A robust EA framework is further expected to support more effective decision-making and contribute towards achieving UPM’s digital transformation aspirations in a holistic and sustainable manner.
