Alhamdulillah, thanks to Allah SWT because with His grace, we are still given good health to carry out the mandate and assignment that has been given. Let us together to continue giving the best in our practices, careers and contributions.
As you know, 2017 is a challenging year with an uncertain economic situation as the government has to reduce the allocation. Take a quote during the new year of the Vice Chancellor of UPM 2017, Ybhg Professor Datin Paduka Dr. Aini Ideris has stated that the university faces many challenges and situations particularly in relation to higher education funding and financing.
It is a global challenge, and should not weaken it, instead it is a catalyst for UPM to continue to move forward. He has invited all UPM staff to continue to be creative and innovative in order to entrepreneurship, in addition to aiming to generate their own income in stages.
The Information and Communication Development Center (iDEC) which is the core of the UPM ICT service must continue and provide the best services to all campus citizens.
In line with the recommendation of the Ministry of Higher Education and also the Vice Chancellor to strengthen governance by upgrading the staff's skills and competencies, iDEC will always strive to improve the services offered.
The iDEC restructuring that was implemented in 2016 and 2017 will be reviewed on the effectiveness and impact of implementation. With the development of 15 ICT systems development in 2016, iDEC will continue to strive to consolidate development. Income-generating activities as well as transformation and service enhancements will also be implemented. iDEC is committed to ensuring and supporting all plans that have been set up in the UPM ICT Strategic Plan (2016 - 2020).
Last but not least, to all iDEC employees, let us work hand with sincerity and professionalism to provide the best ICT services to Universiti Putra Malaysia.
